Dr. Lisa Weeks returns to the podcast this week, and Joy couldn’t be happier. Dr. Lisa’s previous appearance was centered around the subject of stress and it was a huge hit with listeners, so she is back again this week to dig into the world of thyroid disorders. As you may remember, Dr. Lisa is a practicing Naturopathic Doctor who has acted as a Consulting Medical Advisor to one of the largest North American distributors of natural health products where she educated and trained other practitioners. She is also the proud mother of a toddler, co-hosts the ‘Perimenopausal Mamas’ podcast, and is the facilitator for a women's health community initiative, ‘Wild Collective Toronto’. She is full of fascinating information and advice, so once again, you’re going to want to get out your pen and paper to take notes during yet another amazing episode.
The entire episode is devoted to Dr. Lisa’s personal and professional experience with thyroid diseases and covers such topics as the reasons behind their prevalence in North America and the most common ones found in her practice in particular, Hashimoto’s disease, TSH ranges, and the value of seeing a naturopath. She also recommends a valuable resource, describes the role of the thyroid and when to get it checked, details what naturopaths can do for thyroid dysfunction, and shares proper nutrition and lifestyle habits for thyroid health. Effortlessly referencing the science behind her recommendations, Dr. Lisa once again demonstrates both her expertise and her passion for helping everyone enjoy the joyous health they so richly deserve.
